Congratulations on your marriage or partnership! We have a variety of benefits and resources to provide support as you build a life together.
Marriage (or starting a domestic partnership) is a qualifying life event. That means you can make relevant updates to your IMI benefits within 30 days of the event date.
You can review your current benefits and make changes in PlanSource.
Important! Documentation is required.
When you make changes, you’ll need to submit supporting documentation in PlanSource. This could include a marriage license, shared account information, birth certificate, or name change documentation. You also need to provide Social Security numbers for anyone you’re adding to your coverage.
Beneficiaries
Make sure your beneficiary information is updated and reflects your wishes for these benefits*:
Personal information
Is your home address, name, phone number, or other personal information changing? If so, make sure you update that information in ADP. For a name change, you’ll need a new Social Security card under your new name.
Tax information
You can review and update your Form W-4 in ADP, if needed. That way, the correct amount of taxes can be withheld from your paychecks.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers free, confidential legal resources and can help with basic legal documents like wills and trusts.
If you need more legal support, the Legal Plan connects you with attorneys for personal legal matters — including marriage, will preparation, and buying or selling a home. If you aren't already enrolled, you can enroll within 30 days of your marriage date.
Now is a good time to make sure you’re on track to meet your financial goals. You may need to change your 401(k) contributions or adjust your investments.
You should also update your 401(k) beneficiary information, if needed.
Log in to Charles Schwab to review your 401(k) account, make changes, and find tools to help you plan.
Getting married is exciting, but it’s also a big change that can be challenging at times. If you need support, reach out to the EAP to talk with a licensed therapist for free. It’s completely confidential.
Whether planning for the wedding, honeymoon, or just relaxing, time away helps you rest and recharge. Reach out to your local HR for information about taking paid time off.
Marriage often means new joint accounts and shared finances, which can create new places for your information to be exposed. The identity theft protection benefit monitors your credit and alerts you to suspicious activity, so you can catch problems early.
