We have benefits and resources to provide support as you start this new chapter in life.
Divorce (or ending a domestic partnership) is a qualifying life event. That means you can make relevant updates to your IMI benefits within 30 days of the event date.
You can review your current benefits, make changes, and provide supporting documentation for the change (such as a divorce decree) in PlanSource.
Beneficiaries
Make sure your beneficiary information is updated and reflects your wishes for these benefits*:
Personal information
Is your home address, name, phone number, or other personal information changing? If so, make sure you update that information in ADP. For a name change, you’ll need a new Social Security card under your new name.
Tax information
You can review and update your Form W-4 in PlanSource, if needed. That way, the correct amount of taxes can be withheld from your paychecks.
You can review your current benefits, make changes, and provide supporting documentation for the change (such as a divorce decree) in PlanSource.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers free, confidential legal resources and can help with basic legal documents like wills and trusts.
If you need more legal support, the Legal Plan connects you with attorneys for personal legal matters — including divorce, will preparation, and buying or selling a home. If you aren't already enrolled, you can enroll within 30 days of your divorce date.
Now is a good time to make sure you’re on track to meet your financial goals. You may need to change your 401(k) contributions or adjust your investments.
You should also update your 401(k) beneficiary information, if needed.
Log in to Charles Schwab to review your 401(k) account, make changes, and find tools to help you plan.
Going through a divorce can be emotionally challenging. If you need support, reach out to the EAP to talk with a licensed therapist for free. It’s completely confidential.
Taking time away can help you rest, recharge, and adjust to the changes in your life. Reach out to your local HR for information about taking paid time off.
Untangling joint accounts and closing shared cards can leave your information more exposed than usual. The identity theft protection benefit monitors your credit and alerts you to suspicious activity, so you can catch problems early.
